In Detail
This private walking tour is designed to delight all 5 senses and help you get to know the ancient capital of Provence through its shapes and colors, flavors, aromas, works of art, architecture, and history.
Immerse yourself for a few hours in local pleasures. You will be able to, for example, take a photo with the statue of Cézanne, admire the difference between the Baroque quarter and the medieval area, drink from the fountains of "the city of waters," be shocked by the prices in the clothing boutiques, pet cats in a very special bookstore, discover the secret origin of the shape of the calisson, and enjoy the cheeses, wines, tapenade, and other gourmet surprises of the region.
We will meet at the door of the Pavillon Noir (because I don't want you to miss three contemporary buildings that also enrich our city and that almost no other tour includes). The itinerary lasts approximately 4 hours and includes:
● 2.5 hours of walking tour through the historic center, with explanations of history, culture, and local curiosities
● Pauses for tasting local culinary specialties (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are market days, so you can try even more variety)
● Gifts of local products: Marseille soap, lavender, and a box of calissons for the group
Come treat yourself and honor that Provençal saying that celebrates vacations: "to do nothing is to live twice."
Optional (depending on your interest and the artist's availability):
● Visit to a local artist's studio to appreciate works that represent the landscapes and culture of the region, with the opportunity to meet the artist and chat
● Learn a provenzal folk dance, with traditional music!
